Privacy Policy

Darley Aluminium is responsible for this Site and for the personal information collected through it. ScreenGuard is our brand of security screens and doors.

Darley Aluminium does not quote or install. ScreenGuard products are quoted, made to measure and installed by independent ScreenGuard licensed suppliers.

When you request a quote, your enquiry comes to us first. It arrives in an internal Darley inbox and is recorded in our internal quote system. Someone at Darley then passes it on to a ScreenGuard licensed supplier who services your postcode — the one you chose where the form offered a choice, otherwise one we match to you. That supplier contacts you directly, and from that point also holds your details and handles them under its own privacy practices.

This policy covers this Site only. It does not cover a licensed supplier's own website or systems, and it does not cover any third-party site we link to.

You can browse this Site without telling us who you are. We only ask for personal information when you request a quote.

When you complete the quote form, we collect:

• your first name and last name;
• your email address;
• your phone number;
• your postcode, and your suburb if you give it (the form marks it optional);
• the product types you select (you can select more than one);
• the message you write about your project;
• any photos or PDF files you attach (up to five files);
• your agreement to us sharing these details with your ScreenGuard licensed supplier.

Alongside what you type, some information is generated by the submission itself or by the analytics tools running on the Site.

With your quote submission we record your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the ScreenGuard licensed supplier you were matched with (where one is available), and a quote reference number. The page the form was on and the state your postcode falls in are not part of that submission record — they are recorded separately by our analytics tools, described below.

Across the Site, our analytics tools collect the pages you view, links and buttons you click, how you move between pages, page performance, your device and browser type, the website or advertisement that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you arrived on (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and similar). Your IP address is also collected, and our analytics platform may use it to work out an approximate location at city or region level.

Our analytics platform also records a replay of your visit. See the section on session recording below.

One small item is stored in your browser and never sent to us: a flag called sg-cookie-notice, which records that the notice bar has been shown so it does not reappear on every page.

We use the personal information you give us for the following purposes:

• to receive, understand and act on your quote request;
• to pass your enquiry, including your attachments, to a ScreenGuard licensed supplier who services your postcode, so they can prepare a personalised quote and contact you about it;
• to send you a confirmation email with your quote reference so you know the request arrived;
• to record the enquiry in our internal quote system so it can be tracked, routed to a supplier and followed up if something goes wrong;
• to detect and block spam, automated submissions and abuse of the form;
• to understand how visitors use the Site, which pages they read and how many people go on to request a quote, so we can improve the Site;
• to measure how our advertising performs, so we spend the advertising budget on the campaigns that actually bring homeowners to us;
• to meet our record-keeping, legal and regulatory obligations.

When you first arrive, a bar appears at the bottom of the screen telling you that the Site uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use it and to measure our advertising. It is a notice. It offers no choice. Closing it, or letting it clear itself after a few seconds, changes nothing about what is collected: our analytics and advertising tools start when the page loads, before and after the bar is dismissed. We would rather say that plainly than present a button that implies a choice you do not actually have on this Site.

The Privacy Act does not impose a European-style prior-consent requirement for analytics cookies, and screenguard.com.au is aimed at an Australian audience. If you would prefer not to be measured, the controls that genuinely work are in your own browser. See 'Your choices' below.

The storage these tools use on your device is:

• Our analytics platform (PostHog) stores its identifiers in your browser's local storage, under keys beginning ph_, together with the campaign details and landing page of the first visit that brought you here. Those values persist across later visits until you clear your site data. PostHog sets no cookies on this Site.
• The Meta Pixel sets first-party cookies, including _fbp, and _fbc if you arrive from a Facebook or Instagram advertisement.
• Google advertising tags loaded through our tag container may set first-party cookies, typically _gcl_au, which record that an advertisement referred you so that a later quote request can be attributed to it.
• sg-cookie-notice in local storage records that you have seen the notice bar.

We use PostHog for product analytics. It records pageviews, clicks, navigation between pages, page performance, your device and browser, your IP address, the referring site or advertisement, and campaign parameters. It also records your progress through the quote form, step by step, and a quote_submitted event when a request goes through successfully. That event carries the product types you selected, your postcode, suburb and state, the ScreenGuard licensed supplier the enquiry was matched with where one is recorded, the number of files you attached and the page the form was on. It does not carry your name, email address or phone number.

PostHog creates a person record for every visitor, anonymous ones included, from the first page you load. That is not limited to people who submit a quote — it happens on an ordinary browse, and it happens behind the notice bar rather than behind a consent gate.

When you submit a quote request successfully, that existing person record is keyed to your email address and updated with your name, phone number and postcode, along with the date of your first quote request and the products you first asked about. The pages you viewed before you submitted are attached to that record retrospectively, which is what lets us connect a real quote request back to the advertisement or search that brought you here. This is the only point at which this Site sends your contact details to our analytics platform.

PostHog also records your session. This is a replay of your visit that shows the pages you viewed, your scrolling, your clicks and your movement between pages. Text you type into the quote form is masked and is not captured in the recording. We rely on that masking heavily, because collection here is not consent-gated.

PostHog is an analytics platform, not an advertising network. We do not use it to target you with advertising. Our PostHog project is hosted in the United States: see 'Sending information overseas' below.

We run the Meta (Facebook) Pixel on this Site to measure how our advertising performs. The pixel's script is loaded from Meta. It records that a page was viewed, and when a quote request is confirmed as successful it records a Lead event.

That Lead event carries the product types you selected, a category label of quote_request, and the quote reference number. It does not carry your name, email address, phone number or postcode, and it carries no dollar value.

Our code initialises the pixel without advanced matching parameters, so this Site's own code sends Meta no contact details.

Every pixel event is a request your browser makes to Meta, and like any such request it carries your IP address, your browser type, the address of the page you are on and the page that referred you, together with the _fbp and _fbc cookie identifiers described above. Meta uses that information to attribute your visit to an advertisement and to report on our campaigns, and handles it under its own privacy policy. You can adjust what Meta does with it through your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.

This Site loads Google Tag Manager. It is a container rather than a measurement tool in its own right: its script is fetched from Google on every page you load, and it then loads whichever measurement and advertising tags we have configured for it. That configuration is held in Google's console rather than in this Site's code, so the tags it loads can change without any change to the Site itself.

Loading the container is itself a request your browser makes to Google, and like any such request it carries your IP address, your browser type, the address of the page you are on and the page that referred you. That happens on every page, before any tag runs.

We use the container for advertising measurement: to record that a page was viewed and that a quote request was submitted successfully, so that we can attribute enquiries to the Google advertising that brought them. Where those tags set cookies they are Google advertising cookies, typically _gcl_au. The quote event carries the product types you selected, the page the form was on and the quote reference number; it does not carry your name, email address or phone number.

If we configure Google Analytics or any other measurement tool through the container, we will update this page in the same release.

Google handles what it receives under its own privacy policy, and outside Australia: see 'Sending information overseas' below. You can limit what Google associates with your Google account through Google's own ad settings.

We share your personal information in the following circumstances, and no others:

• ScreenGuard licensed suppliers. When we pass your enquiry on, the supplier receives your name, contact details, suburb and postcode, the products you selected, your message and any files you attached, so they can quote your job and contact you. They handle your details under their own privacy practices.
• Our service providers. Microsoft Azure hosts this Site and the quote endpoint, and Azure Communication Services delivers our internal notification email and your confirmation email. PostHog provides our analytics and session recording. Meta and Google provide our advertising measurement, and Google also provides the tag container through which our measurement tags are loaded. Each of these receives only what is described in this policy, and only for the purposes described in this policy.
• Where required or authorised by law, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent or act on suspected fraud, misuse of the Site, or breaches of our terms of use.

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent, trade or hand your name, email address or phone number to advertisers, advertising networks or data brokers.

The only information that reaches an advertising platform from this Site is the measurement activity described in the Meta Pixel and Google sections above: that a page was viewed, and that a quote request happened, together with the product types and a reference number. As with any request your browser makes to Meta or Google, those events also carry your IP address, your browser type, the page address and the advertising cookie identifiers described above. Your name, email address and phone number are not part of it.

Some of the services we use are located outside Australia, so some of your information is handled overseas.

Our analytics and session recording platform, PostHog, hosts our project in the United States. PostHog creates a person record for every visitor and stores it there — this is not limited to people who submit a quote request. Where you do submit a quote request, that record also holds your name, email address, phone number and postcode. Session recordings are stored there too.

Meta receives the advertising measurement data described above and handles it outside Australia, including in the United States.

Google receives the tag container request that every page makes, and the advertising measurement data described above, and handles both outside Australia, including in the United States.

By using the Site and submitting a quote request, you acknowledge that your information may be handled outside Australia by these providers. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We maintain physical, electronic and managerial measures intended to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

In practice, on this Site that includes: submissions are sent over an encrypted connection; the quote endpoint validates and filters submissions to reject automated and abusive traffic; the content of your submission is never written into our application logs; the files you attach travel with the internal notification email and are not stored on the website; your confirmation email repeats neither your submission nor your attachments; and text typed into the quote form is masked out of session recordings.

No method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we take these steps to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep the details of your quote request only for as long as we need them for the purposes described in this policy — handling your enquiry, passing it to a ScreenGuard licensed supplier and supporting the quote they prepare for you — and for as long as our record-keeping and legal obligations require. After that we delete or de-identify them.

Analytics events and session recordings are held by our analytics platform and are deleted when its retention period expires.

If you would like your quote enquiry deleted from our records sooner, contact us using the details below and we will action it unless we are required to keep it.

You can browse this Site without identifying yourself. Personal information is only needed if you want a quote.

Because the tracking on this Site is notice-based rather than consent-based, the effective controls are the ones in your browser. Blocking or clearing cookies and site data, using private browsing, or installing a tracker-blocking extension will stop these tools loading or persisting — clearing site data also clears the stored first-visit campaign values described above. The Site works normally without them.

You can also manage how Meta uses advertising data about you through your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.

If you have already submitted a quote request and want it withdrawn, deleted or corrected, contact us and we will action it, and let the licensed supplier know.

Submitting the quote form does not subscribe you to a marketing list. Your details are used to prepare and follow up your quote.

If we ever use your details to send you marketing material, every message will include a simple way to opt out, and we will act on an opt-out promptly. You can also ask us at any time not to use your details for direct marketing, and to tell you where we obtained them.

Under Australian Privacy Principle 12 you may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you. Under Australian Privacy Principle 13 you may ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

To make a request, email us at sales@darleyaluminium.com.au with 'Privacy request' in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before we can act, so that we do not release your information to someone else. We aim to respond within 30 days.

There is no charge for making a request. If a request is complex enough that a charge would apply to providing access, we will tell you what it is before we do the work.

If we decline a request for access or correction, we will explain why in writing and tell you how to complain about that decision. Where we decline to correct information, you may ask us to attach a statement to it noting that you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please tell us first. Email sales@darleyaluminium.com.au with 'Privacy complaint' in the subject line and set out what happened. We will investigate and respond to you in writing.

If you are not satisfied with our response, or we do not respond within a reasonable time, you can refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the 'Last updated' date tells you when it last changed.

If we make a change that materially affects how we handle your personal information — such as activating Google Analytics, or changing what our advertising pixels collect — we will update this page before the change takes effect.

Continuing to use the Site after we publish an updated Policy means you accept the updated version. If you do not agree with it, please stop using the Site and contact us if you would like your details removed.
